Originally from Minneapolis, Katya Jarmulowicz grew up surrounded by a rich arts community. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at St. Olaf College under the instruction of Dr. Jenna McBride-Harris. During her time at St. Olaf, she served principal horn of the St. Olaf Orchestra and had the opportunity to perform as a soloist on their tour through the pacific northwest. She was an active freelancer, playing gigs with her brass quintet and performing with the Minnesota Orchestra. She spent summers at Eastern Music Festival, the Chautauqua Institute, and Colorado College Summer Music Festival. Additionally, she studied with Michael Gast, principal horn of the Minnesota Orchestra.
Currently, she is earning her Master’s degree at the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Jennifer Montone and Jeffrey Lang. She also serves as Assistant/Utility Horn of the New Mexico Philharmonic.
When not playing horn, Katya spends time doing arts and crafts, cooking, and taking care of her plants.
